Educating and Empowering
Girls in Malawi
Transforming lives and creating a brighter future for girls in Malawi.
About Jelito
Challenges Girls in Malawi Face
In Malawi, poverty, a lack of knowledge regarding the power of education, and a lack of self-worth are challenges faced by girls in my country. Jelito Girls Ministries was established to empower girls to speak for themselves against abuse and educate them to be leaders.
Jelito means “Jesus lives today”. Our founder's story and what girls and teen mothers are going through today gave her a desire to be a voice to advocate for their rights and future.
Lack of Education
Girls often lack access to quality education, limiting their opportunities for the future.
Early Marriages
Many girls are forced into early marriages, disrupting their education and potential.
Poverty and Abuse
Poverty and lack of protection leave girls vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.

Madalo Champeni
Madalo grew up in rural communities where girls and teenage mothers often face gender-based violence and injustices. These young women are affected by poverty, and harmful cultural practices. She experienced some of these injustices and lost hope for the future.
Madalo firmly believes in the unique role of Jesus Lives Today (Jelito) Ministries in addressing the specific challenges faced by these vulnerable groups, particularly in today's complex world. Through her work, instill a sense of empowerment and resilience in those who have faced adversity, demonstrating that with a change in mindset and belief in God’s power, transformation is possible.
